On October 16, 2008, Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope and retail partner Best Buy were joined by music legend Carlos Santana and San Rafael Mayor Al Boro as they donated $100,000 to Santana’s Milagro Foundation. The funds are being raised through a national retail program with Best Buy throughout the month of October. For every Samsung product sold at any Best Buy store, a portion of the proceeds are being donated to The Milagro Foundation to support under-represented and underprivileged children and youth in the areas of arts, education, and health. The event garnered more than 14.3 million media impressions and more than $790,000 in PR Value!
The event on October 16 was held at Davidson Middle School in San Rafael, CA. The entire student body was invited to a special assembly where the Performing Stars of Marin, a group that benefits from The Milagro Foundation, performed several routines for Santana. In addition, Steven Cook of Samsung and several area representatives from Best Buy presented the $100,000 donation to Santana and The Milagro Foundation.
Local media outlets KGO-ABC and KNTV-NBC joined CNET/CBS Interactive, San Francisco Chronicle, SF Post Newspapers and 98.1 KISS FM on-site at the event and spoke with Carlos Santana about his relationship with Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope and Best Buy. The Marin Independent Journal ran a front page article (with photo) the morning after the event!
In addition, a press release and photo recapping the event and retail promotion benefiting The Milagro Foundation secured coverage in: Yahoo!News, MarketWatch.com, TradingMarkets.com, Forbes.com, and USAToday.com.
Special thanks to Best Buy, Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope team, IMS and the entire Santana team for planning and implementing this special event and making it such a success!
